Joel Stacey

OWNER
I grew up playing Football and Wrestling. Even went on to play for 4 years at a small Division III school. After college, I kept in shape by competing in Powerlifting. Then, before I knew it, I was 260 lbs.
While I was strong, I could not move well and weight gain had crept up on me. In 2013 I found Crossfit and fell in love with the fitness model and the competitiveness of it all. I am happy to say I am down to my college playing weight, 205lbs, and have been for the past 5 years. Faith, Family, and Fitness are the 3 most important things in my life. About a year and a half ago, I was writing in my journal trying to figure out what to do next after closing my business due to the pandemic. I wrote those three words down in my journal and it hit me across the face. Why don’t you use the skills you have gained in your career/business and use them to run a Crossfit box? That way, you get to use your skills and do something you love. All the while helping others be successful through fitness. Currently a CF-L1 Trainer, I am excited to share with you what I have learned and to help you on your fitness journey. Turning Point The turning point for me was when; I gained weight, stopped squatting due to pain, and could not run from here to there. Then, I found Crossfit and a coach that could help me and keep me accountable for my actions. I had to check my ego a bit and relearn everything. However, what I found was a new lease on life when the fruits of my labor started to pay off. Motivation & Passion One of the greatest parts about coaching is; when a member sees the fruits of all the work and training. They get that big smile and achieve what they have been working towards. I welcome the opportunity to help guide others to see what they are capable of.

I started doing CrossFit in 2019 when I realized it was time for a lifestyle change.

It was love at first workout and I haven’t looked back since! I joined R & T CrossFit in January 2023 and obtained my CrossFit L1 in January 2024 and my Precision Nutrition L1 in May 2024. My journey to become a nutrition coach began out of personal frustration. After many months of daily workouts, I had plateaued in terms of my strength and endurance and was frustrated that I was not achieving my fitness goals. So, I went back to the basics and examined the fundamentals of CrossFit and its methodology. Turns out, it was my nutrition, and it’s true what they say, you cannot out-train a bad diet. I changed my eating habits by focusing on what and how much I should be eating and after just a few weeks, my fitness skyrocketed! I was accomplishing my fitness goals, and I felt amazing. At R & T CrossFit, an athletes nutrition journey begins with an initial nutrition assessment in order to determine areas of success and areas for improvement. Next up, a nutrition plan is made tailored to each individual athlete in order to support their journey to optimal health and fitness performance. Each day, I look forward to educating and helping our athletes achieve their wellness goals!
